Maybe You Have Questions

Is there a God?

He does exist, and to help us believe that he does exist, we must give our attention to Jesus. Listen to what Jesus says.

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." - John 3:16

"I and My Father are one." - John 10:30

Why is there evil in the world?

Jesus said, "...men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light,..."

- John 3:19-20

What is the big deal about sin?

Anyone who sins breaks God’s law. Yes, sinning is the same as living against God’s law. - 1 John 3:4 (Easy-to-Read-Version)

What does sin do?

Jesus said, "...whoever commits sin is a slave to sin." - John 8:34

Can't my good outweigh the bad things I have done?

Doing good isn't enough. Jesus said, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me."

- John 6:44-45

Okay. What has Jesus done for me?

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." - John 10:10 Jesus came to offer you true life worth living.

How do I get this true life that is worth living?

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." - John 11:25

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." - Mark 16:16

Caring for one another

Praying for one another

Praying for one another

Because of our love for Jesus Christ and what he has done for us, we want to share that love by caring for others. The greatest show of care we can express is our desire for the salvation of others.

We've all heard the saying, "There is power in prayer." That power is not our ability, but in God's ability to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.

Forgiving one another

Forgiving one another

Jesus said that we are obligated to forgive those who have sinned against us, as he has forgiven us. To forgive means to release the debt and let go of the past.

About Cumberland Church of Christ

Dedicated to the Lord

If you are looking for a church family that loves Jesus Christ and loves each other, this is the place. We are dedicated to serving, sharing in shepherding, and showing the love of Christ.

Dedicated to God's Word

The word of God is living and powerful, but only when it is lived in the lives of those who love it. We are dedicated to presenting the scripture as it is written. Jesus said that, the seed is the word of God. The heart is the soil. When the seed is welcomed into the human heart, it produces what God intends. Our hope is that you will find our church family to be one that reflects the word of God.

Dedicated to God's Mission

Jesus, the Son of God, is a missionary. In his own words he stated, "...for the Son of Man has come to seek and save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). After his resurrection and before his ascension to enthronement, he commissioned his apostles to make disciples of all the nations, immersing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He then said, "...teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:18-19). We are dedicated to continuing this mission.

Where All Ages Can Learn from God

Kindergarten thru 6th Grade

Kindergarten thru 6th Grade

The most precious and treasured people in your life are your children. You can trust in the care and teaching they will receive. They will learn of God's love for them and for all people, and the very basic building blocks about God and the world he made.

Kids love involvement. Our teachers do a great job engaging kids so that they learn about God through personal experience. God has revealed himself in His word, but learning Him is more than an academic process.

Kindergarten thru 6th Grade

It's tough to be a young person and have to make new friends. Our Christian parents can help them make that transition and instill Christian guidance, good judgment, and godly morals, into their personal development. Pre-teen and teenage years are formative years. Our young people enjoy fellowship that allows them to grow in the Spirit of the Lord.

Statistics show that 86 percent of young adults leave the Lord and his church. This poses a challenge to the church so that they remain faithful. Young adults have reached a period in life when they want their faith reaffirmed. These are today's leaders and tomorrow's security for the Lord's church.

This group within the Lord's church provides stability and security. As in every Bible Study, the topics are biblical, sound, and relevant. These studies have depth and are very practical for spiritual living.

Our sisters are a vital part of the body of Christ at Cumberland. What would we do without them? Along with occasional events and activities, they meet seasonally for personal growth and encouragement. Ask for more information.
